Guard the two golden hours. Jemaa el-Fnaa at dusk on day one; the dune crest at dawn on day four. Everything else can flex — these two are the postcard and the memory.
Pack in layers, always. One trip, three climates: city heat, mountain-pass chill, desert nights near freezing in winter. The capsule answer: t-shirts, one warm layer, one shell, long trousers for the camel, real shoes.

When Is the Best Time for a 5-Day Morocco Tour
Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November): the golden windows — every stop on the route at its kindest, from medina afternoons to desert nights. These dates book earliest.
Winter (December–February): quiet lanes, crisp light, the year’s clearest desert stars — with genuinely cold camp and mountain nights (we heat, you layer). Excellent value season.

Common Mistakes Travelers Make with 5 Days in Morocco
Buying the “everything” itinerary. Chefchaouen AND Essaouira AND the desert AND four imperial cities in five days exists only in brochures. Choose an arc; the rest of Morocco will wait for your return (it’s patient — it’s been here a while).
Flying round-trip into one city. The Marrakech-in-Marrakech-out desert run forces a brutal 9-hour day-five backtrack. Open-jaw ticketing erases it — the single highest-value planning move.
Treating the desert as a checkbox. Squeezing a 2-day Zagora run into a Fes-bound schedule delivers small dunes and big fatigue. If the Sahara matters, give it the real route; if time forbids, choose an alternative arc honestly.
